The beaches and coves of San Antonio: a treat for the senses
We are not just saying that. The beaches and coves of our town are a true reflection of the Mediterranean dolce vita. And they come in all their versions: from paradisiacal coves sheltered in pine and juniper forests to urban beaches just a few minutes from our hotel in Ibiza.
So get your backpack ready, we're going to show you the best places to sunbathe in Sant Antoni and take a dip in our crystal-clear waters, but don't forget your sunscreen, dear!
Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta: probably the favourites of the "portmanyins".
Now that you know how we locals are known ("portmanyins" and "portmanyines"), we think we should also introduce you to one of our favourite coves. Well, actually there are two of them and they make up a spot of incredible natural beauty....
We are talking, of course, about Cala Salada and Cala Saladeta, located in an unspoilt natural environment, surrounded by native vegetation and spectacular turquoise tones in its waters. Come on, you can't miss it!
You can get there by shuttle bus (in fact, Cala Salada is the first "connected beach" in Ibiza), by boat from the port of Sant Antoni or by private vehicle. We recommend one of the first options, as parking is limited in order to preserve the privileged heritage that our coast gives us.
Ask us at reception for public transport timetables!
Cala Gració and Cala Gracioneta: close, familiar and enchanting
This is where most of us spent our childhood. Swimming with the whole troop, omelettes in the shade of the pine trees, running along the sand, ... Even today, Cala Gració and Cala Gracioneta are still two of the most welcoming and familiar beaches in San Antonio.
They are also very close to the town centre (just over 20 minutes' walk from Stic Urban Hotel & Spa) and have all the services you need to spend a perfect day at the beach, alone or in company.
In its waters you will also be able to appreciate the posidonia. This marine plant is what allows our coves and beaches to have the cleanest and most pristine waters of our archipelago, which is why it is protected!
There you have restaurants at your disposal or you can take your sandwich with you as we used to do in the old days, it's up to you!
S'Arenal: the urban beach par excellence
We told you at the beginning of this article that the beaches and coves of San Antonio come in all their versions. The one that concerns us now, S'Arenal, is probably the best known, as it is located in the heart of the bay, right at the entrance to our town.
It is one of the closest beaches to our hotel (just a 10-minute walk away) and has all kinds of services: ramps, showers, calisthenics facilities, ... And being right on the Paseo Marítimo you have all kinds of restaurants, bars, attractions, ... within walking distance.
We recommend it if you are addicted to sports: kayaking, paddle surfing, beach volley, competitions, ... The perfect beach to have fun and keep fit at the same time!
Es Pouet: white sand and shallow waters
Just at the beginning of the promenade of San Antonio you can find Es Pouet, a small beach of white sand and shallow waters ideal for a quiet swim without going too far away from the town centre and the surrounding services.
From there you can rent small boats that don't require a licence if you feel like you're having a sailor's day. Or you can sit down for an aperitif with your feet in the sand if you feel you're having an enjoyable day!
Perfect to spend the afternoon before returning to our hotel while enjoying the pleasant walk back...
Caló des Moro: small, but privileged
And just at the other end of the Paseo Marítimo you come across Es Caló des Moro, a cove of small dimensions but privileged in terms of its location. It is the closest beach to the area of this promenade where you can best see the famous sunset.
Just a 10-minute walk from Stic Urban, it is ideal for taking a dip without leaving the town and enjoying the varied leisure activities on offer in the "Sunset area". On the horizon you can see the Isla de la Conejera and the Islotes de Poniente.
A really beautiful postcard that you have to take with you on your holidays....
We hope you enjoy the beaches and coves of San Antonio!
