Ibiza Medieval Fair 2023: reliving history
The Medieval Fair of Ibiza is an annual event that takes place in the walled city of Dalt Vila, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
For several days, this fair recreates medieval life and culture, offering its visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history of the island and enjoy a wide range of themed activities.
Origins of the Medieval Fair of Ibiza
In the Middle Ages, the island was an important commercial and cultural enclave in the Mediterranean Sea. During this period, the fortified city of Dalt Vila was a centre of trade and defence, with a rich mix of cultures and a thriving economy.
Eivissa Medieval is inspired by this time and seeks to recreate the atmosphere and daily life of the Middle Ages in Ibiza.
What to do at the Ibiza Medieval Fair 2023
This spectacular event takes place annually during the second weekend of May, and this year you can go from 11 to 14 included. The fair offers four days full of activities, fun and history.
Don't miss a thing!
Exhibitions, Activities and Things You Should Not Miss
There is so much to see at the Ibiza Medieval Fair. The most popular are usually the medieval theatres, the challenging archery (which we encourage you to try), the falconry stand, the forge at the main entrance and the demonstration of Arabic dances.
Every year is different, so we recommend that you keep an eye out for publications by Ibiza City Council.
The Market
Dalt Vila was built as a small fortified citadel with many squares and bastions offering stunning views of the sea and the new town.
During the weekend you will find in the main streets and squares various craft stalls, toys, jelly beans, clothes and other objects that will transport you to the Middle Ages; The wonderful charm of the time is transmitted through the decoration and clothing of the merchants.
By not being limited to a single culture, since Arabs, Phoenicians and Christians coexisted in the same point, a multitudinous and very enriching atmosphere is formed that you should not miss.
The food
One of the main reasons that pushes us year after year to return is definitely the food.
You can enjoy all kinds of flavours, such as tea from Arab tents, kebabs, octopus and grilled meat made as before, handmade drinks, sausages and sweet desserts from all the cultures that inhabited the area.
Four days to treat the palate!
How to get to the Ibiza Medieval Fair from the hotel?
The Ibiza Medieval Fair is held in the historic centre of Ibiza, which you can easily reach by car, taxi or bus.
If you come by car, we recommend that you try to park at the port or in a somewhat remote area, as it is difficult to find a place nearby during the days of the fair.
You can also get to Dalt Vila by taxi or bus, since the connection by public transport from San Antonio to Ibiza is fantastic: you will find the bus stop 8 minutes from the hotel, and you only have to take line 3 and stop at "EIVISSA CIUTAT-AV. ISIDOR MACABICH". After a stroll through the centre, you will have reached your destination.
We hope you enjoy your time travel!
